Table grapes have been Subsole’s core fruit crop since 1991 and the company is proud to be Chile’s leading exporter of table grapes.
Early-on, Subsole incorporated protected varieties as a way to produce the very best fruit, with the highest quality and the latest food safety standards. These protected varieties also allow Subsole to address environmental challenges, such as decreasing the use of water and utilizing low-residue programs.
Subsole plans to grow its already market leading table grape program, through innovation and program expansion, and by leveraging its long history of success with this essential global crop.
The productive regions for Chilean table grapes start in the north of Chile, in the Atacama’s III Region, and extend into the Maule’s VII Region in the south.
Copiapó, the earliest valley to harvest in the north, begins harvest in mid‑November. It is followed by the valleys of Elqui and Limarí, then Aconcagua, the Central area and lastly in the Southern area (Maule’s VII Region).
In the Central and Southern areas, Subsole has extended its crops until April, thanks to the use of covers that protect the grapes from summer rain.
Subsole’s grape volume has grown consistently throughout the years, reaching 6.5 million boxes of grapes exported to more than 45 countries in 2022 and by accounting for approximately 19% of the total exportation of protected grape varieties from Chile.
Subsole’s primary markets are North America and Europe, with the U.K. as a separate market due to its special characteristics. Asia and Latin America have become an increasingly important part of Subsole´s commercial structure in recent years.
In each important global market, Subsole works with local importers who handle each of the company’s business lines with tremendous attention to detail. Subsole’s importer-partners also manage direct business with local supermarkets, providing critical on‑the‑ground attention in‑country.
